Support the Academy
For nearly 70 years, Albuquerque Academy has been the highest-regarded secondary educational institution in the state of New Mexico and in the Southwest, providing exceptional learning experiences for its students and serving as a lodestar for educational opportunity in our region. Albuquerque Academy’s investments in a challenging curriculum, highly qualified faculty and staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and comprehensive student support allow it to provide an unparalleled learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and love for lifelong learning and development – skills and attributes needed to thrive in our ever-increasingly changing world.
All gifts to Albuquerque Academy are tax deductible. The Academy Tax ID# is 85-0129165. Please email the advancement office if you have any questions, or call (505) 828-3281.
The Academy Fund
Critical to Achieving Our Mission
The Albuquerque Academy Fund provides an opportunity for all members and friends of the school to secure the continued quality of an Academy education. Each year the Academy Fund raises money critical to maintaining quality programming and a state-of-the-art education. Participation serves as an expression of confidence and appreciation for the school and the work that takes place on campus each day on behalf of our students. The number of participants grows the fund much more effectively than the size of each gift. The fund benefits every facet of the school’s operation and helps ensure the difference between tuition and the true cost of educating an Academy student.
The Endowment
Ensuring Support for Future Generations
Gifts to the Albuquerque Academy endowment protect and provide for the financial stability and security of the school in perpetuity. A percentage of the school’s total endowment, as determined by the board of trustees, and the interest generated by it is used to support the annual operating budget while the corpus remains intact to keep our community strong for generations of students to come.
Each student benefits from the endowment every year, as income from the endowment is used to offset our current tuition from the true cost of educating each child.
Because our school’s mission requires that our community’s fundraising efforts meet the difference between tuition income and the actual cost of an Academy education, we prioritize initiatives designed to raise funds for our ongoing operating costs and reserve the creation of endowed funds for unique circumstances.
The Academy is the proud and grateful beneficiary of a variety of named endowed funds. Gifts totaling $35,000 or more may be used to create an endowed fund to support a particular school program and may be named in honor or memory of someone. Once a fund is established, additional gifts may be added to the fund to help it grow, as a percentage approved annually by the board of trustees determines the annual payout from the fund, to be used to support the designated program. Annual stewardship reports are sent to endowed fund donors, providing an update on how the fund’s payout was used over the previous academic year.
Ways to Make a Gift
Company Match
Matching your gift is a great way to multiply the impact of your donation! Did you know that thousands of companies match donations by employees? Some even match gifts from retirees or spouses.
Giving TuesdAAy
On Giving Tuesday 2023, the Academy received 603 individual gifts, exceeding our goal of 500, and surpassed our total fundraising goal, bringing in a total of $274,030! We would like to extend a special thank you to our AAPA and Alumni Council for all their support. We greatly appreciate the commitment of all the volunteers who serve as spirited champions for our annual giving initiatives.
Spring Day of Giving
Wednesday, April 10
Let’s Hear It for the Girls! 50 Years of Girls at Albuquerque Academy
Thank you for an incredible day of support for Albuquerque Academy!
Together, we raised $256,282 with 596 gifts. These donations will go directly to support the Academy Fund, which provides essential, unrestricted dollars that meet the school’s most critical needs. Faculty support and development, tuition assistance, academic departments, and extracurricular and enrichment programs including student wellness and academic support, all rely on the Academy Fund each year to sustain our students’ Academy experience.
We hope that you will continue to learn, engage, and give. If you weren’t able to join us for our Legacy in Motion virtual conversation, you may access a recording of the event here. In addition, please continue to share your important Academy stories with us via your social media accounts using the hashtag – #albuquerqueacademy or contact us.
We must still raise additional critical funds by the end of our fiscal year, June 30, 2024, in order to meet our budget for the year and to avoid depleting other resources, such as the endowment. Again, our overarching goal is to build a culture of philanthropy that supports the Academy Fund, allowing us to preserve the endowment for the future.
Our formal Spring Day of Giving campaign will remain open until April 21, 2024. If you missed our Spring Day of Giving festivities, we hope you will consider giving now. We will announce the campaign’s final numbers and the winners of the 50FOR50 Academy spirit prizes in The Path on Monday, April 22, 2024.
As we enter the homestretch of Spring Day of Giving, see below for an update on our class challenges and our giving incentives.

Why Philanthropy at Albuquerque Academy Matters
Each year, Albuquerque Academy subsidizes over $8,000 of every student’s education from the Academy’s endowment and other philanthropic efforts such as donations to the Academy Fund. Our mission is to build a strong Academy Fund for today and secure the endowment for the future. You can learn more about this initiative by reviewing A Stronger Path Forward, our case for support, located at the top of this page.
Corporate Partnerships
With sincere appreciation, we thank our corporate partners for their commitment to social responsibility in New Mexico. Their investment in our school and the broader community’s educational, cultural, and economic progress is invaluable, helping build a brighter future for all.
Additionally, the Academy drives economic development by serving as one of the city’s larger employers as well as by attracting new businesses whose employees seek exceptional educational opportunities for their children. By serving as a corporate partner of Albuquerque Academy, you are not only investing in the education of our future leaders, scholars, and changemakers, but you are also contributing to the overall strength and vibrancy of our entire community.
